Smooth-Leaved Tatsoi These fast-growing, melt-in-your-mouth greens will have you saying "Tat's Soi Delicious!" Garden Pack | | Eligible for Membership Deal |
$2.50 / $2.00 for members Tatsoi is delectable. When quickly braised with garlic in oil, it softens into a tapestry of sweet leaves and tender stems that is hard to beat. It's also beautiful, forming a swirl of little spoon-like leaves that are of a deeper green hue than nearly any other plant in the garden. And, on top of all that, they're fast: tatsoi can be harvested young within three or four weeks of planting, and fully-grown plants take under two months. They last well into the colder months and can be grown successfully all winter with protection. Once you've discovered its charms, your garden will never be without it.
200 seeds per pack. How to Grow Smooth-Leaved Tatsoi Tatsoi grows very quickly and is usually ready for harvest in about six weeks. Sow under protection 4-6 weeks before last frost; transplant 3 weeks before last frost. Sow successively. Fall crops are most successful: sow July-August. Spring-sown crops must be harvested young to beat bolting; they also may need row cover to protect against flea beetle damage. All Asian mustards will overwinter with protection and give delicious greens through January, at least. (Date suggestions reflect our early- to mid-May last frost date here in the Hudson Valley) |
